A Lady that lunches and then performs the duty of a Nit nurse!

Had a very nice day today as I had been invited out to lunch with some work friends for a girl in the office who is retiring in 11 days time ( Lucky cow !)

Having had a sumptious lunch I drove home in the wind and the rain. I had taken "The Bug" our work car ( a Citroen C1) which weighs a little more than a couple of bags of sugar. Malc had taken " Tracy" our tank and was off road driving for the day with his work colleagues.

Part of my journey home involves coming over a viaduct type bridge.

Everytime I drive across it I inadvertently hold my breath ( not quite sure why), it's the same when I drive through width restrictions, crazy I know but just one of those things I suppose !

I managed to survive being buffeted in the storm that was blowing across the carriageway and was glad to get to the other side in one bit without being blown off. I felt a bit like Piglet in Winnie the Pooh and the blustery day - but with no kite!

I then picked Sam and Georgie up from school. Sam has now been promoted to "Bell ringer". This is a position of great responsibility (!) as he has to ring the bell in the morning at 08.55 ( so that the teachers know to drag themselves to their class), then at 0900 so that the kids go in. He then does the break time and lunch time bells and lastly the 3.30 going home bell.

For some reason it always pours with rain at 3.30 - usually when Georgie has forgotten something or is busy organising her class mates , chatting or making sure someone hasn't forgotten their lunch box , or water container ( very helpful but a real buzybody!).I am left standing in the torrent of water waiting for her to say cheerio to her teacher. Sam on the other hand as bell ringer is now the first one out.

Whilst I was standing in the playground a friend advised me her daughter and son both had nits ( a very bad case of them apparantly)and that she was concerned that as my two had played with them before Christmas recommended me also to check.

So when we got home I became "Nit nurse". Both kids were examined thoroughly and luckily - nothing to report - thankfully!. The thought of dragging a nit comb through Georgie's hair ( down to her waist) would be a nightmare and something which I could do without.

I should be off tomorrow but have to go into work for a one hour meeting midday - which messes up the whole day really! - never mind only another ??? years till I retire !

So what was the meeting about?? I know a fair few of you were invited to it???
Think yourself lucky on the niot front Beth has had them more times than I can count, and they are a real bugger to deal with, Flame thrower is the best line.
Have a nice weekend, we are trying to decide what to do for certain for holiday, its so hard.

Hi Liz - ERT's !
Yes luckily we are Nit free - neither kids have ever had them so we've been very fortunate.

We're still undecided about hols too - can't really get any inspiration at the mo - need to get more organised !!!
