Going back to school !

I have been talked into helping out in Georgie's class every Thursday - well more emotionally blackmailed if the truth be known !

Even before I had agreed to help out on one of my "precious days off" Georgie had told her teacher that she was certain that her Mummy would be free and had me signed up for the dreaded "Times table helper!"

I was led into the class this morning and presented in front of the teacher who was very grateful and asked "When can you start?" Try getting yourself out of that one !

My "duties" will include testing every single child in the class for one minute ( using a timer) on their times tables with a question sheet which I have to mark afterwards.

The kids will be working up to their 12 times table and will also have a series of division questions!! I only hope that I know all of the answers !! So this week I am having to swot up on my mathmatical skills!

I haven't really had to use my maths skills ( or lack of them) a great deal since I left school ( all those years ago) and definitely not " simultaneous equations , fractions ,long division, pythagoras theory ,square routes or even Pie.

Part of me is looking forward to the experience , the other part dreading being shown up by an 8yr old child genius !

Today we had a new "Brown bin" delivered after our other one "Bertie" ran away from home. I have no idea where it went or even why anyone would want our one - it was rank !
The new bin we have decided is going to be a complete piece of art work - painted with a variety of pictures and even have bells on it - Try nicking that one - neighbours !!! Any suggestions of what to paint on it will be gratefully received.

oh - you'll do great as a math helper. Just bring a tiny calculator with you. Nobody will ever notice. :)

Paint up the bin as a big monster - kind of like Sully in Mosters Inc. It would be really tough to disguise stealing an aqua monster bin with purple polka dots.

You won't need a calculator, it will all come flooding back to you, I'll test you tomorrow just to make sure!!
I think you should get the kids to paint Mr Bin, our council will not replace the bins even if they have been lost or stolen, so Bishops Stortford council (Is that still east Herts??) must be too rich for their own good! How do you know its not been kidnapped and you have replaced it without a second thought to the mental health of the first bin, I am disgusted with you.

Thanks Liz!! I think "Bertie" may have even run away from home - we have received no ransom notes from the neighbours ( and I've checked all their bins !)My Mum thinks the bin men have literally put him in the "bin" having crushed him in the back of the recycling lorry.
Georgie has big ideas for "Bertie 2" and plans to decorate him within an inch of his life. I did write the council a brilliant e mail - if I hadn't have got one from them I would have just a straight swop for Malc on Ebay !! Might still swop him any way - wonder what I would get !!!!!
