Living at work !

I feel as though this week I have been living at work - I have seen more of my work colleagues than my family which can't be very good.

Yesterday I finished just after 10pm after a very long day and went on my drive home. I was nearly there when the most bizarre thing happened. As I drove around the corner there was a tiny Muntjack deer standing in the middle of the road. It was in absolutely no hurry to move and in fact I had to drive around it.

It did not appear to be injured in any way and there was no sign that it had been hit by a car or had suffered any trauma. I drove past the creature and noticed in my rear view mirror that it was still standing there not moving and in a trance like state.

I then had a decision to make - do I continue on my journey home - I'm tired I've been away from home for 12 hours as it's now 11 o clock at night, its cold and I have to be back in work again in 7 hours time for 6 o'clock and I've not eaten anything apart from one cheese sandwich all day?? or do I leave it with the possibility that something could happen to it when I could have helped - I would not get to sleep !

My conscience would not let me drive on - so I turned my car around, got out and walked over to the deer. It still did not move at all despite me clapping my hands and making all sorts of strange noises towards it.

I was really worried by this time that should a car come around the corner it would hit not only the deer but probably me too. So the next thing I know I picked up the deer by the back legs and gave him a "wheel barrow " steering him across the road.

To anyone watching it must have looked completely comical - a mad woman in the dead of night with legs straddled participating in some strange wildlife ritual. The deer seemed to respond and happily went along with my game eventually to a grassy wooded area on the other side of the road.

Having done my duty I then got in my car and continued on my journey. When I got home Malc had been waiting up and was wondering where I was - I'm not sure if he believed me when I said - "Oh I had to pick up a deer standing in the middle of the road ". He has obviously been married to me for so long in that he didn't even ask me any more questions.

The only thing he did say was - "You haven't put it in the car have you ??"

No, that will probably happen next time!

Oh, wow. You are so sweet! My friend webgal gave me a bunch of grief over my tongue in cheek post about hitting a deer the other day. She was so sad for the deer. I'm going to email her your post. It will cheer her up.

Debs You are a loon, I am glad that you didn't get hit, poor bloody deer you have possiblyt mentally scarred it for life now!!
I had a mega bad week last week, so perhaps its that time of year. I ended up one night with 'our' boss all alone until 6pm scary!!
Its doing my head in at the moment.
The roses are still beautiful, I will take a photo tomorrow. The empty bottles of wine have gone to the recycling and I have been creative today!!
