Yesterday was my day for helping out in the school ( also my day off from work!)
I have actually received a promotion since last week - because as well as being the "Times table tester" I was allowed to mark the spellings and maths homework ( without the use of the answer sheet !)
I really enjoyed myself. Having had a bit of a "Bum week" at work I completely forgot all about any worries - the kids were great and it is so nice to see them improve from one week to the next.
Georgie's teacher is a very glamourous lady who always dresses beautifully. Georgie loves her and is always in awe of her clothes, jewellery - everything really.
Georgie is a very helpful child - she likes to organise everyone at the beginning of the day and at the end - giving everyone their empty lunch boxes, mothering the boys, calling people to attention - a real busy body in general but in a nice way.
When in class yesterday the teacher was elegantly sitting down in a chair reading a story to the children and had her legs crossed as a lady should.
Georgie put up her hand and said in a very caring voice, "Mrs Thomson"
"Yes Georgina?"
" If you cross your legs you will get varicose veins like my Nanny has"
Luckily for me it is half term this week as I'll probably now be demoted !!!!!!!
For a couple of weeks now we have been having a young fox visit our road. He actually seems quite tame and not frightened of humans at all. He arrives at around 5.30 pm ( which is really early)and seems to enjoy sniffing around and then disappears off.
The other evening when we came home from work he was standing in my neighbours front garden, we stopped the car and just watched him. Malc turned off the engine , got out of the car and called to him at which point I thought he might run away ( the fox - not Malc!). The strangest thing happened - the fox looked at Malc and sat down just like a dog.
So whilst out shopping I decided that I would buy some dog food for the fox and leave it out for him or the hedgehog that sometimes visits. ( Years ago I used to have a voluntary job at St Tiggiewinkles - a wildlife hospital which catered for hedgehogs, foxes, badgers , deer - all sorts of animals - I loved it).
However this morning at just before 3AM -there was an almighty cat fight in our driveway and I guessed that the fox and hedgehog hadn't come - instead "Tommy" the next door neighbours cat and some other moggy had decide to have a scrap over the food which ended up waking everyone up - Oooops!
Any way - sleep deprivation or not I'll put some more food out tonight and see if he comes back .
