Are Biscuits classed as chocolate?

It's Ash Wednesday today and the time of Lent is upon us.

Today both of the kids were at school ( I was at work) and they had a mass. Sam got chosen to read in front of the whole school which he was really chuffed about.

Georgie was a little more miffed by having Ash daubed over the front of her head ( believing that it smelt of petrol fumes !?)

The kids were asked what they had given up for Lent - Georgie announced that she was to give up chocolate and sweets ( something which neither child really eats much of - but they do still have selection boxes left over from Christmas)

Tonight after approximately 37 minutes of announcing her good intentions she came up to me and asked "Mummy are chocolate digestive biscuits classed as chocolate?" After a while of negotiating the ingredients of the said biscuit she decided that it probably didn't fall into the category and that she was ok!

Sam is much easier to please - he announced that he would stop - I quote - "Blowing off in Nanny's car !" I'm sure that Nanny will be very pleased about this and that she can at last breathe again without having toxic fumes in her vehicle - but is this really what Lent is all about ??

What, exactly, is a digestive biscuit? (Sorry, I'm a clueless American... I have no idea what it is, but I have horrible images of alka-seltzer tablets in chocolate flavors....)

Glad the car will no longer be toxic. that one makes me giggle.

My son is giving up cereal. Seems kind of random to me...

oooh! I was just reading your profile. you have 'O Brother Where Art Thou' as one of your favorite movies. Good selection!!

Isn't that just one of the most well written movies ever? The dialog is so sharp and clever. I love it!

Monnik - Just for you I have taken a photo of a "Chocolate digestive biscuit" I suppose the name is a bit odd when you think about it - but they are a must with a cup of tea ( there are plain ones and ones with milk or plain chocolate on the top)

We loved the Brother where art thou movie and even have the CD - as hubby loved the music !!

I only know what digestive biscuits are because of my Aussie and my New Zeland friends!

And O Brother Where Art Thou is on my list too...it's one of the best. You just can't beat the Coen brothers!

oooh, that biscuit looks very tasty. It's probably a good thing that I don't know what they are. I'm having my afternoon cup of tea at this very moment - without anything tasty to go along with it. How sad.
