Where has the time gone?

I can't believe it's the end of November already and the 1st December tomorrow. One month ago we were in America celebrating Halloween and having a great time!

The kids dressed up and we went to Mickeys Not so scary halloween party bringing home 20 million sweets!

The Firework displays were fantastic, they certainly know how to do it well.

A month may have gone by but the effects of the "Toxic waste sweets" last ages!

Tonight Sam and Georgina have got swimming lessons and later on I have promised that we can put up the Christmas tree - Let the madness begin !!!

A Busy Day

Well with Christmas just around the corner Malc and I went shopping today down to Lakeside. We went into Costco and spent most of the time filling up on all of the freebie foody bits - starting off with popcorn , followed by potato and haggis ( yuk), then a sweet pastry and jelly beans with a humous dip finished off with a tomato pasta. I actually felt quite ill afterwards ( I think it was Malc's ploy to avoid taking me out for a meal!! - it worked). I think that my brain is being infiltrated by Lyzzey Dee as this week I have been crazy blog creating and today I bought a start off kit for scrapbooking!!! ( Help! I haven't got a clue what to do with it - but it was cheap!!! as Malc had said that all he wanted for Christmas was a photo album of our American holiday photos nicely arranged - it seemed a good idea at the time and in the trolley it went). I don't usually do "crafty" things like this as I'm not very talented in that department but I do like to have a go. Whilst we were in Costco I had a phone call from a model agency who wanted Georgie to star in a TV commercial , the problem being that they wanted her to obtain a licence for it within 2 days which is not really possible ( as it usually takes a minimum of 5 working days). The agency had seen her photos and their client needed a girl with long blonde hair. The money was probably going to be quite good as there is normally a buy out fee for TV- but hey ho that's life.

She obviously gets her good looks from her father !

Still here!

Well I survived the night having eaten Malc's gone off pasta sauce and have lived to tell another tale.

Got back home following a normal hectic day at work to find that I had a letter from the HM revenue & customs apologising for the fact that all of our details have been lost by the Child benefits office including our names, dates of births, national insurance numbers, bank account details, addresses - marvellous! This has obviously been well publicised on the news recently affecting millions of people. The most annoying part of the letter was the fact that the baffoon who wrote it hadn't even bothered to sign his name despite the personal apology.Get me his ghoulies on a plate that's what I say !

Sam has continued in the same manner as yesterday with his profound statements - when asked what he had for school dinner today he went off on a tangent and stated that he had recently read that the egyptians used to eat ants ! We then for a short while debated the calorific value and cooking methods of such insects until I finally got the answer to my original question - fish fingers and beans!

Blog tastic !

I've got one, Sam's got one , Georgina's got one and now so has Mum ! Yesterday I spent the day working on Mum's computer, deleting programmes, updating the virus guard and general stuff. By the time it took us to drive the short journey home Mum had created a blog entitled "Nanny's naughty". I only hope that it doesn't attract the wrong clientele i f you know what I mean !
The kids are really enjoying having a blog as it actually makes them think about their day and record what they have done. I know that ours are very basic at the moment but may be with a bit more time and knowledge we can introduce new things.I installed a count down counter today which tells me that there are only 266 days until I am 40 ! ( Malc if you are reading this you have no excuse not to organise me a party , trip of a life time , present and even a card!). I had always said that I wanted to go to New Zealand when I hit the big 4 0 and this hasn't changed although I do not think it realistic at the moment.
Today was " Watch day" at Georgina's ballet class as it is near the end of term. I was really proud of her as she has certainly improved in poise, grace and movement ( and the teacher only had to shout at her 5 times !) Well done Georgie! Sam was practising for his panto tonight ( luckily at the same venue) and had a really good time.
We came back to find that Malc had cooked tea , a nice surprise of chicken pasta. It was fine until I discovered that he had used a jar of sauce that went off in July 2007! This may be the last blog post I write if I should suddenly come to an untimely demise! If I do make sure that you give him evil stares at my funeral , dobb him in to the insurance investigators and more importantly - don't eat the buffet !!

Funny Thoughts and Ideas !

Today started off with one of those memorable questions from Sam, " Are Bogeys flammable?" Quite what possessed him to come up with a question like that I have no idea. I also have no idea as to what the answer might be firstly having never picked my nose and secondly never having actually set light to one! I'm sure that Malc will know the answer to this one. It seems to be a man thing and something which should be published in a book of handy hints.
It got me thinking of all the funny thoughts and ideas that my family seem to have regularly. Mum is one for inventions and always has something that is definitely going to be a best seller and make millions. The last idea that Malc had was for a party franchise called "Paint the Baldy". He decided that he should get a group of bald men together and hire them out to parties in order for the use of their head as a blank canvas. He thought that this was a fantastic innovation as all you would need was the glitter, glue, paint, pens etc etc for kids to "paint their very own baldy".We debated his theory for absolutely ages whilst on holiday in America ( Very sad I know). He even came up with theme nights- "the Baldy Easter egg competition" and "Hen nights - something different for the ladies ( why anyone would want to paint a bald blokes head confuses me!)
My idea was a little more reasonable - a game called "Ailment Bingo!" - I play this at home often. If you have a husband or partner who often moans about their various aches and pains - "I've got a sore leg" or "My head hurts" or "I've got a terrible cold" then this is the game for you. You have a pre formatted "Ailment card" and in the space of a day or even an hour ( in really bad cases) cross off each ailment when you hear it being said using a pen or bingo dibber ( I know the terms). When you get a line or full house shout "Bingo" and go out shopping and buy yourself a prize.I can guarantee that the moaning will gradually cease!! The card can be laminated for re use -Fantastic !!!

Day Two

Blimey I've made it to day 2 of my Blog - so far so good! As well as this one I've been helping Sam out with his one also which he loves. It's been a funny old today today- Sam had 2 hours worth of school aptitude tests and as parents were not allowed to stay I found myself wandering aimlessly round the town spending money! Malc has been to a surprise birthday party and enroute stopped to drop off a present foranother birthday girl Beth. Unfortunately what he hadn't noticed was that he had trodden in a pile of ( what we now think is cats) POO which decided to ingrain in the grooves of his trainer! ( We have made relevant enquiries in the neighbourhood and identified the poop as belonging to a ginger Tom called Tommy!)
You really get to know who your friends are when you turn up unannounced and they help you by collecting twigs, tissues and disinfectant and start trying to pick the offending goo out of your shoes. One unfortunate part was when Malc flicked out a lump with a long stick, which then landed on his cheek and stuck on his jumper !! Poor Liz was on her way out at the time - Malc has now been banned from visiting again!
Do you ever wonder how a simple request can end up being a very complicated affair?? Life is never dull !!

Welcome!

Welcome to my Blog "One day closer until..."
I'm slowly working my way around how this Blog lark works
and will do my best to keep this updated!
I've finally managed to work out how to add play lists- the songs I've chosen are a real mixture and some although really quite corny have brought back loads of funny memories -the "Rose garden " song was a cult one 20 years ago on a duke box at training school in Ashford along with a small glass of "Blue nunn" or three and a load of raucous friends ! ( We didn't know the words then - apart from the chorus and I still don't know them now!!)
